How to use a T-Rex rat trap
The T-rex rat trap is an easy-to-use snap trap designed to target rats and mice.
It can be easily set by hand (or foot) and has a removable bait cup that allows you to re-bait without the trap being set. The trap comes inside a wooden trap box that helps keep pets, children and non-target animals (like birds) safe.
Where to put your trap
Place trap boxes on a flat surface near compost bins, alongs walls or under cover where you know there are rats lurking. Always put the trap inside a wooden box to protect pets, other non-target animals (e.g. birds) and children.
What bait to use
Rats love anything high in fat as they are more attracted to energy-rich foods. They love peanut butter and jam. Bacon fat and chocolate are also proven winners.
How to set your trap
Remove the bait cup from the underside of the T-Rex. Twist left to unlock and pull out. Fill the bait cup with your bait and replace.
To set, squeeze the back end of the trap until you hear it click and the jaws of the trap stay open.
Position your thumbs in the centre back of the trap. Applying pressure from the sides can break the trap.
Carefully slide your set trap, bait-end first, into a wooden tunnel box.
Ensure the trap is as far away from the box entrance hole as possible.
Checking your trap
Check the traps frequently (every few days) when you first put it out.
After a while, your catch rate will decrease, and you only need to check it every 1 - 2 weeks.
Hold the trap over a rubbish bin and squeeze the back end to release catches.
